Wedding Cake Master Class

A bride’s wedding day is a day of lifetime dreams fulfilled – but it is also a day full of pressures. So when it comes time for that sweet, final symbol of the wedding feast itself – the wedding cake – the pressure is also on for the person entrusted to make that special confection. How do you go from concept to design to delivery and staging? Our class will give you the confidence – and the skills - to do just that.

This is a one-day class where you will be shown how to use modern techniques to achieve an elegant and breathtaking three-tier cake suitable for a wedding.

During the day you will be exposed to various types of paste to achieve that perfect professional sharp-edged finish, the making of beautiful ruffles (that don’t take hours to complete) adorning the bottom tier. A magnificent large whimsical rose, buds and pulled flowers to complete the top tier. You will learn how to apply lustre to achieve that flawless and perfect lustre finish. You will create templates for application of those royal icing pearls – and then you will make royal icing to the correct consistency. Then, when it’s time to put the cake together, we will go over those techniques along with a doweling demonstration. Finally – at last! – you’ll add trim to your cake. At the end of the class, you get to photograph your works of art against a professional backdrop: the perfect way to show off your cake to family and friends on social media – and, of course, any future brides.

Classes cost is £150 per person and are fully inclusive of all ingredients, tools and aprons. Refreshments and sandwiches are included. Online booking is available, please see the list of classes available to the right. You may wish to bring a notebook and pen.

This class is an intermediate class so prior experience of covering cakes is a must. 
Classes runs from 10:00 until approximately 18:00

NOTE
As we have tried to pack as many techniques into this class dummies will be used for every tier. Should you wish to work on a real cake for your bottom tier a surcharge of £20 will apply and a fully prepped cake will be provided for you to cover in the class. Please contact me should you wish to use a real cake.
